History

"The Clube Pequeninos do Jockey was founded in 1970 when the turf professional José Guimarães Jr. Was injured on the track, and was transferred to the administration department of the Jockey Club de São Paulo. There, the kindly Guimarães was always hearing several requests from tiny poor boys asking to be jockeys. Many requests. Few opportunities. Anyone's heart would break when seeing the unsuccessful efforts of riding a thoroughbred horse and life throwing these back to the streets, and many times, to crime. The great sensitivity of Guimarães made him calculate that for every one job in racing, twenty-two could be created in football. So, old Guima started the first team. He got a field (the farm of the Jockey Club that kindly accepted the idea) and a ball, then founding, at his own risk, the Clube Pequeninos do Jockey. He received a little logistical support from the Jockey Club, and a lot of help from many people, and above all, it was his extraordinary and tireless efforts that let him go on. The headquarters of Clube Pequeninos holds part of the more than 1,000 trophies, 183 trophies have been won in international championships. The walls are filled with posters, newspapers and magazine articles about their victories in Europe ."
